Ok well I’ve been having an issue over the last year and a bit what’s gradually got worse to the point this week I’ve got my ISP demon to look into it more after reporting it a few times now it got silly . When I receive and incoming all my ADSL drops out and my router reconnects. My ISP has reduced my profile slightly and the issue still happened this morning BT engineer dropped it down even more and the line seems stable with about 10008 Kbps DL and 575 Kbps. My normal speed is around 15360 Kbps DL and 1024 Kbps.

Now there forwarding the case to get an engineer on site this is what I’ve tested myself 5 different ADSL filters, 2 Front plates with the filters all tested again I’ve removed my hard wired extension when testing this and the connection drops still. I have even connected a socket to where the phone line comes in the house as the cables are held by clear jelly plugs same results until they dropped my profile down even more. oh yeah and tested with different phones.

What can I do to try to get BT to fix the line so I can get my connection back like it was before as I live very close to my exchange and my isp demon say there tests show my line to be perfect but on my DGN1000 what I replaced my ISPs speed touch router with it shows the Noise Margin fluctuating constantly between 0.0db and 16.8db on the upstream before profiling it would do this but go upto a max of 11.2 db on the upstream.

Im kinda hoping anyone else has had this kinda issue as ive been looking all over the net and any tips on how to get the enginer too seriously look into the fault as my ISP agrees with me that the fault exists BT side and I don’t want them to use profiling as a patch to fix the problem. Any advice or helps much appreciated.

Note: when I moved to my current house BT had to get someone out to find the phone line the engineer didn’t install a NTE5a box just a normal extension box with a front plate this front plate lets me connect two phones into it and has a single resistor.

Microfilter issue?

*edit* nvm

If BT put the wrong box in and gave you an extension socket instead of a master socket I think this would cause issues with the bell wire

Ive check the wiring BT side its connected to 2 & 5 with a punch down to no bell wire also my hardwired extention is identicaly wired. also had a chat with my isp again this morning they think there maybe a NTE5a box hidden in the wall ive looked around found one behind one of the sofas and that seems to be wired into where virgin medias line comes in as the previous tenents seem to have been with them for the phone.
