Hey,

Looking to get a new modem/router as I just don't like the HH4 and I don't think fibre will be coming to me anytime soon, I'm going to try make the best out of what I can get.

I'm on a BT ADSL2+ EO line, 1.7km straight line distance.
I get around 7mb download speed and primarily game on my PS4 which I connect using ethernet but many other devices connect by wireless across the house.

I've been reading up today and see the WRT1900AC is getting good reviews but the only problem with that is it hasn't got a modem... I was thinking of getting a TD-8817 with it but don't know if this modem is good enough to pair it with this router.

So my question(s) is do you think this pairing is fine or what modem/router do you suggest?

Cheers
L

Edit:-
Just found out the modem is a trendchip chipset... Broadcom is better for my distance so that'll need to change if I go the combo route.
Edit2:-
The TD-W8970 V3 has Broadcom chipset so could be a better choice to use as modem and just disable other features...

I have just got one of these

http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/cat-15_Archer-D9.html

Got one due to the chipset in it as its good for long lines as I'm on ADSL2+ the first one I had packed in working on wireless after 6 hours, so I returned it, got another one now and it seems good I have to say it is very stable on my line 3.5 meg was easy to set up and port forward ect I was using a N55U which was unstable on my long line.

The wireless on the TP-Link is the same as the N55U I live in a three tier house and get full wireless signal on the top floor.

Hope that helps if you have any questions send me a message.
