Hello all,

I'm looking for a bit of advice on which provider to move to. I've been doing a bit of research but not finding enough information to make a firm decision and a lot of the information I'm finding is from months ago.

Bit of background: Leaving O2 Home Access, on a Non-LLU exchange. I started with a list of about 18 ISPs but I have whittled it down based on price/reviews/recommendations to between ADSL24 and PlusNet.
Other ISPs considered: XILO, Freeola, UKFSN, Vivaciti, Eclipse.

My main question is:
PlusNet will be £100 less over 12 months than ADSL24 (and any other ISP) for the same 60GB peak, unlimited offpeak package. Is the quality of PlusNet up to scratch to justify saving the money, or should I steer clear?

Can anyone currently with these ISPs help me out with their opinion, I can only get 'upto 8Mbps'. My speed has been better with O2 than it was with Eclipse who I was with before O2 so I'd like to keep that up.
I've been reading mixed things about ADSL24's service having moved to Murphx from Entanet so opinion on that would be welcomed.

Thanks for your help.

Had ADSL24 a couple of years ago and would easily recommend them. Speeds were consistent and never had any problems. Only downside was the extra expense compared to other providers.

Was on o2 for under a year until they terminated the contract for supposed excess downloading which definitely wasn't the case, so at this moment in time I am with PlusNet. I haven't been with them for long enough to give an overall opinion on their service, but it seems to be reasonable so far. If not, then I'll be back to ADSL24 in a shot.

Im also with ADSL24 and would recommend them as a non LLU provider. Do you really need the 60gb peak package? I'm on the 30gb peak and unlimited off peak. Lets face it most of the downloads you do you don't need there and then, just queue them up for night time or do a downloading binge at the weekend.

I was ADSL24 then moved to TitanADSL for our office connection had the surf 8 package 100Gb then got a chance for their LLU service.
But now at home i have a nice 50Mbes VM connection :p

I was with ADSL24 for about 3 years; at the start they were brilliant, when I left the connection repeatedly dropped, slowed down during peak times etc.

Really wouldn't recommend.

I was with ADSL24 up until last week due to a BT cockup.

I can't reccomend them enough, any tickets were answered quickly and were always helpful and speeds were consistent.

They seem like they care about there customers as well which is also a plus.

I'm with ADSL24 and have found them to be fantastic. Not only there support and active forum but also their speeds. A workmate is with plusnet, and I always seem to have faster download speeds than him. I'm not sure if ADSL24 do any traffic shaping, but if they do then I don't seem to notice it.

I had Plusnet, they have excellent call centres and support but they arent that great for gaming even on the Pro Package. I switched from Plusnet to TalkTalk and its like the diference between a mini and a F1 car.

I was considering the 30GB peak package as well, it still comes in more than PlusNet per month (but less over 12) for half the peak usage.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

I had no end of trouble with O2 Access: connection dropping; <1Mb speeds in the evenings; only once managed to get full speed out of them.

So, I moved to ADSL24. Full speed all the time. Highly recommended, at least on my exchange.

ADSL24 = unmetered weekend usage. Avoid. ;)

I left due to high latency experienced most weekends. IDNET for the win.
