Advanced clipboard

Trying to develop a few little python apps as a hobby, and had an idea about what would be useful.

What I want is a program that I can enter the names of my functions and variables and when I double click one it'll load it onto my clipboard so I just have to paste it into the right place.

This would save me loads of time typing, or navigating to copy things, and help lessen spelling mistakes (English ain't my strong suit) .

Anyone know of such a program (sure I'm not the first to think of it) or am I going to have to try and develop it myself ?

I use Qsnipps and you can copy to clipboard in that.

Nice one man looks like just the sort of thing I'm looking for.

While we are on the subject though anyone know of a good Python IDE, I was a little disapointed with the last one I installed on my old rig. Now I need to set everything up again, on my new rig, anyone got any advice on a good program for my purpose?

By default, you have to right click a snippet and then choose copy to clipboard, but if you go into preferences, you can change it so that it copies automatically on normal left click.
