Advantages of having a sound card

Hi,

In my last two systems i have always used on-board sound. I currently have the gigabyte ds3 with the on-board sound.

My question is is it worth getting a dedicated sound card. I mainly use my computer for playing games and listening to music.

Will i actually notice a difference? or experience any noticeable performance increases?

bit of a performance boost, nice increase in sound quality.Go for it, you wouldn't be disappointed

Any recommendations? Looking for best bang for buck really.

Ps. Do you mean Houghton massive as in houghton in Leicester? don't suppose you went to beauchamp college?

ANY sound card would be good when you have only had onboard sound, i just got me a 2nd hand audigy2 platinum and its awesome

you definatley notice a difference with a sound card!
