advent 5301.no power

ok,been given an advent 5301 laptop to look at. the power lead lights up green but the laptop appeares totally dead. no lights ,fan, nothing.

any ideas what to look at, great with desktops but don't know much about laptops

tested power supply.looks like it's no good

I'm on my 3rd power supply on an Advent 7107, the brick is usually fine it's just the wire that connects to the laptop always seems to twist and end up breaking.

Ebay should have a power brick for about £5 and you can just reuse the kettle lead.
