advent 5312 hard drive upgrade

Hi Please can anybody out there help I want to upgrade my advent 5312 laptop hard drive from a 160Gb to a 500Gb model but no os software came with the pc it is on a hidden partition on the exsisting hard drive. Can I transfer the os from 1 drive to another? if so please can you tell me how? Cheers for any help you can offer.

you could probably clone the hd drive with some free ware program
or better still there will be a program in windows to burn some recovery discs.

There is a program called Acronis True Image that has an HDD clone option. It costs money but they have a trial you might be able to use. I don't know if there are any limitations to the trial software but its worth a look.
