Hi, I've been given an Advent 7099 laptop to look at for someone at work.
In usual fashion he tells me "it just stopped". I get from him that it was working fine, shut down, then it wouldn't start next time.
What I have found is:
Pressing power button spins h/d into life, power light comes on, but nothing on screen.
I connected it to an exernal monitor as well, but no output, I also removed the battery, pressed the power switch for 30 sec and tried it with just mains power, still nothing.
Power supply gives 24.7 v open circuit.
The only thing I noticed was the dvd drive light was flashing regularly, but no sound of disc spinning up and not able to eject, I removed the drive, but nothing on screen.
It has an ECS G335 mothernoard which I read there is an issue with failures.
I have had the h/d working in my pc, and it reads fine, I have fitted known ram as well, no beeps, nothing, just power light on, cpu fan doesn't spin either.
Any experience or thoughts welcome, before I buy a new mobo for them.
