So what is your occupation?

Used to work in IT, came to a conclusion that the job was getting boring, everything became automatic and a lot of people that should'nt be in IT are in IT. Monkeys if well trained can do the job these days, more and more jobs are being exported and intra company employees are being transfered.
IT isnt want it used to be, always good to get out.

rip off, i'm doing a comp TIA+ network which cost me around £1500, if that were me i'd steer way clear

Ay ?!? The N+ is only around 60 hours of tuition and that's why the college I did my A+ at didn't offer it. Then there's the price

You didn't answer my question.

But then you'll be a dirty immigrant and by your own views on immigration the other country should deport you and look after it's own.

Well we've had more than our fair share, anyway i dont really like the UK anymore, its become too PC, and corrupt among other things.
i've sat down and looked at what the uk has to offer and what other nations have to offer, quality of life is top of my list, and the UK doesnt offer that.

dont look elsewhere, mcp certs you can do at home.anyway ITsupport is for monkeys and losers.

I'd say the vast majority of people working in IT do 'IT support'

I know people earning 30k and people earning over 500k* for whom 'IT support' is still a significant part of what their job entails.

I guess you could make your argument if you said 'IT is for losers' but you'd be covering rather a broad area there and would perhaps be addressing the wrong audience in posting it here.

(*yes sometimes even MD level people get involved in production issues and write hot fixes - especially if the original code was stuff they developed 10 years ago)

What about going down the Microsoft or Cisco route?

Thats the sort of thing I would be looking at, thats all Advent offer anyway.
What would be the best route in? I pick things up pretty quickly and have a strong intrest in IT. I am currently working as a manager in the construction industry and I am looking for something less stressful. Boring is fine by me!

Once you move up IT becomes stressful, thats if you work in a bluechip company, you also need to know, you also work weekends when dealing with migrations etc... plus you dont finish at 5 you normally get more work done when the building is empty so expect plenty of late shifts.
