Advent Vega?

I've played with loads of tablets including the iPad and the Vega is still one my favourites(once modded).

You have pretty much everything you could want for half the price of an iPad :D

Just got a Vega a couple of days ago... absolutely FANTASTIC value, roughly 1/3 of the price of a Motorola Xoom (but with less memory and a poorer screen). It has the Tegra 2 chipset so it's everybit as capable as the latest Motorola, LG & Samsung Android tablets and far more powerful than an iPad, also has HDMI out, a working USB port so can connect to keyboards tec.

The minus? Well the screen isn't as high a res as an iPad or the new Android tabs but I think it's perfectly acceptable (still far higher than standard def), I've happily watched a couple of films and not thought for a second that it was a problem.

I've flashed several ROMs, currently on one for the 1.09 framework which is based on the Modaco R8. Between Modaco and XDA there's lots of support and development/

I'm posting of a Vega now, using MoDaCo r8.

I would definitely recommend it as long as you're a bit techy and don't mind having a play as, to be honest out of the box it is utter pants.

Yeah that's the ROM I've downloaded ready.

Still not 100% sure on getting a Vega, but pretty close.

May wait until the r9 ROM from Paul is out based on the 1.09 Vega ROM.

Just got one of these lastnight, fantastic, still on the default 1.9 rom it shipped with, but have got it rooted and have the android market on it....

Look and feel is good, solid bit of kit, only down sides are the screen sensitivity seams too high, as in pressing the app draw button often opens and then closes the draw, and angrybirds can be a pain as when you select your bird, it fires off before you can drag it back... On the other hand, pressing a button on the very lower bar needs more pressure?

The veiwing angle is a bit naff too, but bareable, head on it looks good.

Lastly, the video player, seams to play most my .avi files bar just two, does anybody have a recomended player for better compatability?

Bought one last night, straight onto r8 (after a lot of pain as I'm on Win7 64).

Quite happy with it, only down side is viewing angle isn't great - I find viewing it from a slight top down angle best, much like most laptops I find.

Going to pick up a leather case and a matt finish screen protector tonight, overall extremely pleased so far :).

Cheers Deadlite66, will look it up and give it a try... :)

As I have root and Andriod Market, is it worth going to a custom rom... I have Button Savior installed which is real handy when you have no physical home button, so am I missing much on the stock rom?

Rockplayer worked a treat, as long as I use it in Software Encoding mode, if I enable Hardware Encoding then I get no picture... ;)

Here's is a strange one for you...
on your Vega, look at the YouTube thread, all the embedded links appear as garbled text?
Even with the uastring set to desktop mode!

they work fine for me using DolphinHD

Last night I premiered it on stage and it was perfect.
With my new band I'm playing guitar and singing and because of my inability to remember words I have a lyrics book on a music stand but I have trouble seeing it because of the light - NOT NOW
