Advice - copying music to another device

Hi,

Wondering if someone could advise the best way to transfer music from an old laptop's ITunes onto a new laptop's iTunes...Is it home sharing or copying the files over with a USB or another way?
If we use home sharing then will they stay on the new laptop once we've wiped the old one and will it cause any issues on our Iphones,passwords etc
