Hello,

Just looking for some feedback on a spec I have put together.

I have a budget of around £800 and am looking for a PC that can play the latest games (1080p) as well as some Photoshop use.

I haven't built a PC in awhile so just looking for some opinions as to whether this is a decent spec or not.

Looks like a sensible spec. A couple of things:

It won't make a huge difference to performance, but you can get faster (and cheaper) RAM than the Corsair stuff. Either the Kingston HyperX kit on offer this weekend or one of TeamGroup's kits.

The MSI Gaming series GPUs have been having problems with their fans lately (oil leaking and whatnot), so unless you're getting it on the cheap (like, close to £200) I would avoid them.

And a gold rated PSU. Spending a bit extra on a good 650w unit should have you covered for Crossfire.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCUII TOP 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £239.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £49.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX24C11T3K2/8X) £49.99
Total : £405.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Thanks for the reply.

I will definitely get the faster performing ram seems crazy not to at that price.

So is the general consensus to stay away from the MSI Radeon R9 280X now then? Think its priced around £220.

Also is the PSU I selected still good? only reason I ask is would prefer a semi-modular setup.
