I've never watercooled before but i want to give it a try. my dad's friend says that he'll give me some parts that I need to set it up. I know all of the parts you need for a loop but I want to know what the best parts that I can get for cheap are. also before you ask I don't know what I'll be getting from my dad's friend so suggest any parts. I have a coolermaster storm sniper case btw and I don't mind modding a bit to get parts to fit.

first bit of advice i can give you is, do not cut corners because you will regret it so cheap aint the best way, on average it will cost about £300 for a good set up. I know you said your friend is giving you the parts...
do lots of reading as about it as well.

Thanks for the advice, would you reccomend any parts? I have a socket 1156 CPU if that helps.

Waterblock - any of the top ones
Pump - d5 or mcp335
Radiator - depends what you're cooling. probably 240/360, brand doesn't matter that much
Tubing - dependings on fittings type. if barbs, 7/16 or if compressions then 1/2
reservoir - choose one that you think looks nice

Thanks, is the xspc dual bay res/pump any good?

Well... it's not bad. I think it'll do fine for a small loop.

Using the XSPC D750 Res/Pump, 360 Rad, cooling CPU 4.2 + GPU 470 850:1700:2000 temps hotest Core-66'c, GPU-50'c, room temp 22'c. Do resreach the rad you chose as size + fin density effect cooling + the set up of your fans and the speed you use. No need to cool anything else if you have good case air flow keeping you NB + SB cool.

Check out skinne labs, they have done resreach into what type of rad to use + what fans, they have reviewed a few Radiators and so might find one that suite's you with what type of fan to use and how to set them up. But don't foget to ask about advice from the forum the more Knowledgeable custom coolers can keep you right. There's plenty of info om the net, resreach your parts, etc.

Seconded. The XSPC combo works fine for me too. I have a 360 rad with mine and I used it for CPU 3.6ghz and GPU 4870 overclocked and I never went above 70c on any core and over 50 on gpu.

As OLDPHART basically said, do your research first. With a good rad and decent fans on it, it should easily be fine for a cpu + gpu loop

Thanks m8 is there any rads that are 240mm that you would recommend?
