Well not quite fat just yet but I don't want to get that far.

Any advice on how to shift the typical man chest-weight, I'm fairly normal everywhere else just all my weight seems to form moobs and a belly.

My diets not great and my asthma prevents me from too vigorous exercise but are there any good moves I can do at home, sit ups etc? I do a lot of walking but all that seems to have given is very well developed calves...

Any tips would be great! I'm currently 5'4" and about 12-13 stone (I know) so you can prolly imagine I'm a little tubby. :p

Working your pecs will help tone the muscles in that area but you can't specifically target fat loss in a single area. Best bet is just to sort your diet out and start exercising.

Cycle to work if you arent too far away, take advantage of the great weather and burn calories at the same time

Sort your diet out, guys in the Sports Arena can throw you together a good diet to stick to

Give yourself targets to meet. You're more likely to stick to it if you have targets (Get yourself some nice summer clothes that dont fit you yet but will do in 2-3 months , that sort of thing). Take photos of yourself at different intervals, again, if you can see progress, you are more likely to stick to it

Most of all though, don't take shortcuts.

eat better and more exercise

green veg, fresh fruit, lean meat, fish, low fat foods , dont over do the carbs

eat smallish amounts about 6 times a day

dunno about the exercise though, im not sure what would affect your asthma

currently i do 6 miles cycling total a day to/from work , every other day i try to do at least 15 miles on top of that but in a lower gear so its more cardio than muscles

i do 5 mins of weights on opposite days and planning on buying a punch bag

this works for me

Just blast out some cardio. Go cycling a couple of times a week, build up the distances slowly.

I'm currently pretty inactive, but I used to jog 3 times a week and do 1 hour of kickboxing. That kept me fairly fit and didn't put on any weight. (was around 10-11 stone, 5ft 10. around 12% bf.)

You should try getting yourself into a routine, they get addictive as soon as you start noticing differences, plus it lifts your mood for a day or so after.

I've been eating crap for the last month or so though, so if I were you - you and me should hit our local gyms :D :p Plenty of cardio.

I'm starting at the end of May, training until mid september around 3-4 times a week.

I used to walk a lot more than I do now, about 4-5mile round trip up and down some hills, should that be enough if I do it regularly?

You need to be raising your heart rate for a good 30mins to gain much benefit. Depends how you'd find walking hills for 4/5miles that to start off with, if it's not that challenging try jogging it slowly, walk for a few mins, then start jogging again, you should slowly be able to reduce how many times you stop.

Just use more calories than you consume. Since you say you can't exercise, the simple solution is just to eat less. :p Sit ups are not going to help you lose weight and they put a lot of strain on the back so should not be done anyway.

Been doing quite a bit of walking recently - carrying a pack weighing around 2 stone. Longest so far was 9 miles in about 5 hours, give or take. All in preparation for plans to do the pennine way at some point either later this year or late spring next.
Do that once or twice a week on a regular basis and you'll soon loose weight. Once you get used to it you can crack on at a fair pace. You're less likely to injure yourself through overdoing it too.

Eat less and excercise, i lost 5 stones in 2 years by just eating less (especially sweets and fizzy) and walked more.

aim to eat 2000 calories a day and in 6 months you will have lost a stone easily.

i say dont mess around with faddy diets, just look at what your eating,

i.e a bag of haribo, yorkie bar and a can of coke is 1200 calories. fat and sugar = not good (all the time)
a 8oz steak and jacket potato with a pint is 1000 calories - protein and carbs = good

whats more filling?

edit: also remember you can't target fat loss, only target muscle growth.

eating well is a great start, reduce the junk food, eat plenty of fruit, eat a range of veg with your meals (not microwave meals ;)). I like fish which is very healthy (not in batter from the local chippy) and goes well with veg for me. As for excercise, I would recommend swimming. You don't have to over exert yourself, you can do one length at a leisurely pace, I find backstroke is very relaxing when done at a slow but consistent pace. And you can just rest up in the pool if you get out of breath or tread for a short time.

Not quite fat? :p I'm 6"1 and ~12 1/2 stone and I still want to shift some weight :o

Haha, very funny.

Muscle mass tbh, I have bulky legs. :D

I'll try eating a little less crap and walking a bit more often, jogging or running is a problem as I get short of breath/wheezy quite quickly. :(
