Decided to try and O/C my rig by adjusting the FSB only. My only goal was to take that first step and see where it led.
My main components are;
DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D
AMD 3500+ Venice although, CPU-Z suggests a Clawhammer
Geil 2x1Gb PC3200 Value Dual Channel
XFX 6800GT
(Stock cooler BTW)
All housed in a Chieftec Dragon.
OK, in stages of 5 as advised in the sticky I increased from 200-220 then ran SP2004 for 8 hours, no problems. My temps remained consistent remaining at 50ish idle and 60/62 running SP2004.
In the last hour I thought I would try for a further increase and pushed 230 and my monitor began to flick on and off as I perused this forum.
I am happy for any gain even, 2.4 @ stock but I was surprised by the monitor issue expecting....a reboot or perhaps a heat increase. Can you experts shed some light on why the screen would flicker on and off like this when overclocking?
