Hi

I'm in need of some advice, I was brought a game for Christmas but my computer comes up with a error regarding shader model 3 when i try to open it. Ive tried updating drivers but intel updater informs me the drivers are upto date but when i use opengl to check the specs its not updated.

My computer is a Parkard bell imedia s3800 and has an Intel core I3 CPU 530 @ 2.93Ghz

It says it has Intel HD graphic. I have taken the side of the unit off and found that its built in graphics card.

My question is would it be worth buying a dedicated graphics card (the Game requires ATI RADEON HD2600/NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 or better). And could you recommend a new card? not looking for anything fancy as im not a serious gamer.

i think my power supply will need changing as well as its only 250w.

Really its just a cheap fix to play a game as the computer is only used now for itunes and sorting pictures.

any help would be great thanks

With the integrated graphic on i3 you can barely run SimCity 2000! Integrated graphic on Intel processors is still far behind AMD.

However the CPU itself it is okay for gaming so if you get a mid level graphic card you can have some very good fun without spending a crazy amount of money on console games.

Try to get an AMD 7770 graphic card, I built a PC for my nephew and it is a good card which you can now find second hand at a very good price (less than £70) or if you fancy something new there is this one on OCUK AMD ATI Radeon 7850 OC 2048MB .

If you have a look at Steam I am sure you will find games you like to play every now and then even if you are not a "serious gamer". and with the second card I have linked, which is very cheap, you can run most games adjusting graphic settings.

Edit: This card is a very good deal too! Even cheaper, it has 50% less video memory but it all depends how much you are willing to spend.

Hi i looked at the cards and thought that as well is there a alternative. Ive seen a Asus HD 5450 SILENT 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Low Profile Graphics Cardhttp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-271-AS&groupid=701&catid=56

Would this be any good or do i need to go better?
