Don't laugh:D but I have been running a Dell Dimension 5000 (BTX format) P4 3.0, 1gig ram etc etc etc.

Back in the day I was running a Vapochill and a headless farm for Seti and I spent more time inside my PC than I did using it...........but alas life and family took priority.

I'd like to build another rig but in all honesty have totally lost touch with how kit has moved on.

Any chance one of you young techno whizkid types could give me an idea of the latest clocking options, I'm assuming that Intel is the best option currently.

Suggestions for a processor, mobo, ram and case with PSU would be helpful.

Got a 22" TFT, GFX (PCIe), Emu0404 soundcard and plenty of storage already.

I am reading through the forums but OCing seems to have become more complicated or perhaps I'm just turning into my dad:eek:

well am sure someone will come spec you :) but I would suggest you look at:

An Asus (P35 or X38) motherboard if you intend to overclock, best overclocking boards going something like the P5K-E for £80ish quid is an excellent yet cheapish overclocker.. Only thing to be aware of is Asus poor RMA

CPU wise Q6600 G0 for a quadcore or E8400/E8500 for Duel core or E2200 on a budget

RAM depends on how much you want to clock sub 450 FSB then GeIL 6400 ULL stuff is excellent 450FSB+ you want to be looking at 8500+ RAM

Powersupply would recommend Corsair all day long.. 520watt should be plenty

Case.. well depends on tastes

If you buy Asus P35 Motherboard I have a guide to clocking them here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17825087
Also links to the OC guides for beginners

On very similar lines to what Pneumonic suggested this would probably do, if you need it to be under £400 then you could pick the Akasa Zen case.
