Hi,

In my PC currently this is the airflow system I have:

I have checked HWMonitor and my computer isn't overheating at all, it sits around 40 and when heavily gaming goes to around 70. What I have noticed is when I touch the perspect plastic window it becomes really hot because of the GPU and the PSU powers on for a few seconds which I assume is exhausting out hot air. So I was thinking about buying a couple more fans for my PC to help reduce the heat generated inside the case.

My questions are:

1) Should I buy fans or will they be a waste at the moment
2) Where should I mount my fans, on the top (pulling or pushing air) or one on the front (I have one there already).
3) Which fans do you recommend

I have had a look and I wanted to keep a nice black/blue theme and I saw these:

Thanks and all help is appreciated,

:)

1 fan in front to pull air in, one on top to push it outside.
If you can have another one on top, do it.
Warm air naturally goes up, if you have nothing to move it outside of the case, your cpu will be boiling.

You should have 2 in front, 2 on top, 2 push/pull on cpu cooler and 1 exaust in back behind cpu cooler.
So add 1 more in front and 1-2 on top, 1 pulling air out of cpu block and you should have much better temps.
If you CPU cooler is to big and does not allow you to put any fans on top, try getting thin fans, there are 12 mm thick versions.

I don't think I can add another fan to my CPU cooler, its a Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Pro 1. I don't see anywhere the fan could connect onto. The one on it uses some sort of metal clip.

As said if you can add 2 exhaust fans to the top of your case do that also under your PSU is ther a vent in the floor of that case ?? if so turn the PSU over so it sucks cold air in from out side as it will blow the warm air out the back ... this will also so allow warm air to rise out of the back of the PSU when the fan is not on and no into the case and increase the temp'

as for fans there are quite a few good ones out there I am using Corsair SP120's on my CPU setup

and BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm

I have 4 case fans and 2 CPU fans I have my case fans connected to a fan controller as I like the look of it and the direct control it gives me.

Thanks,

By the looks of my case I can have:

2x 120mm fans on the front
1x 120mm fan on the back
1x 120mm fan on the bottom
2x 120mm fans on the top

I really liked my PSU facing up but looks like I will need to point it down :( Does it make a big difference. I mean I understand its pulling hot air into it and out the back but having it the other way surely its just pulling cold in air and putting it back out, its not getting anything into the case?

I mean my fan on the PSU is never on, it only comes on for a few seconds when I am gaming... so surely facing down wouldn't affect it? If anything help it?

I become big fan of cases where psu pulls air directly from outside of the case and push it out, best conf as its much quieter and does not heat up which will help keep the temps down inside case, more fans at lower speed is better then less at higher speed

The thing to remember is heat rises as you know so even if the fan is not running all the heat from the PSU until the fan is on is going up into your case straight onto your GPU and then onto your CPU having it facing down will stop that and will not have a negative effect on your PSU as long as your case has feet on it...

Ok against all my beliefs and OCD I have flipped my PSU facing downwards. I will let League of Legends run for a while on Very High and will post my HWMonitor results and let you know if the PSU spins up.

But back on topic I should be buying 2 fans at least for the top exhausting air out.. and if I get one more put it on the front as another intake?

yes 2 exhaust fans at the top and add another front fan if you can as you can slow them down to reduce noise and still get good air intake.

After looking at both I think the Corsair SP120 will be the best bet.

I was going to buy a twin pack and between the Quiet and Performance I will go for quiet.

However what is the difference between the normal quiet ones and the PWM quiet ones?

Also because I am using it for the case and not a radiator do I need SP120 or AF120?

I would probably use AF fans, use fan controller or voltage reduction cable to keep them below 1k rpm, otherwise they will be loud.

Do the corsair series come with the voltage reduction cables?

Because I have a big CPU Cooler does that not mean I would benefit more from a SP120 on the top rather than AF120, as its not technically free flow?
