I've got a 4850 coming today and i was wondering if anyone has any tips for avoiding possible driver problems. Perhaps i am being paranoid, but i have not had an ATI card since my 9800pro and i had quite a few issues back then. Hopefully the drivers are better these days.

I am going to do a clean vista install, and the order i install drivers usually goes as follows:

1. Install Vista.
2. Get all available updates.
3. Install all mobo/raid drivers etc.
4. Install graphics drivers.

Should this work fine or should i install the ATI drivers immediately after Vista?

Also is there any recommended driver or will the current 8.10's be ok?

TIA for any help!

I usually don't bother with mobo drivers and the 8.10s generally are fine as far as i know.

I recently installed a 3870 here, though it was to replace another ATi card.

Will be fine that, 8.10's are also fine. :)

Thanks guys, unfortunately City Link have decided not to deliver so i'll have to wait until tommorow to give it a go!

I'm going to send a webnote and get my £8 delivery refunded. Typical bloody couriers.

I just checked the tracking again this morning and City Link have said that the package was returned to the branch after a failed delivery attempt - which is a flat out lie.

Is this common for them?
