Sorry if this is in the wrong section, it's my first post here (hi).

So I've been looking at gaming computers for the first time, and the past few months I've learnt a little here n there about specs but only basics.

After searching for a while I found (what I think to be) a good deal for what I'd need. But I could really use some second opinions because the last time I "decided" on one, it was pretty crappy lol.

Intel Skylake I5 6500 3.6Ghz Quad Core Processor, NVIDIA GTX 970 (4GB, GDDR5, HDMI Graphics Card, 8GB 2133MHz DDR4 RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, 24x DVDRW Drive, Bronze Rated PSU, Phanteks Enthoo M Pro Red LED Gaming PC Case, Pre-Installed with Windows 10 Operating System
Is the one I've found.

What I really want to know is, would this play large games such as Elder Scrolls online, witcher, at good settings? Is there anything that I could be missing?

Thanks to anyone who reads, I don't know anyone with computer expertise so all help is really appreciated!

Mod note:- Don't link to competitors please.

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Firstly, kindly remove the competitor link - not allowed here I'm afraid.

Give us a budget and we'll help spec you up a decent machine. Do you need an operating system, monitor, peripherals etc or just the tower? Want to have a go at building yourself? You'll get all the help you need here if you're unsure :)

Ah sorry, i didnt realise the 'competitor' thing. my budget is £600 - £800, thanks for your help. and that one looks good LewisRaz, but i was told i should probably get an i5. although i dont know the difference between i3 and i5 lol

thanks to everyone who answered, so to double check, i would be fine running max settings with:

Intel Skylake I5 6500 3.6Ghz Quad Core CPU Processor
1TB Hard Drive / 8GB 2133MHz DDR4 RAM / 24 x DVDRW Drive
NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB DDR5 HDMI Graphics Card
Windows 10 Operating System

If theres any specific upgrades i should consider, please let me know (i wont be buying for a few months still, but i do want to educate myself, PC gaming is a lot more in depth than i imagined lol).

For now. But as games get more demanding they'll start using more vram. It's good at the minute, but it's certainly not future proof. The main thing is, don't rush when buying! Make sure you research everything to get the best possible specs for your budget. For example, you can get a 390 8gb for the same price as the 970 4gb. They're similar cards but the 390 comes with twice the vram. Also, you will want an SSD to put the OS on. Boot up time will be dramatically reduced. Mine takes around 10 seconds from pressing the power button to get to desktop - it's a must.

I think adding a SSD for the operating system and your main game app & installs is essential for any 2016 build, especially if you plan to play games with lots of zone or map loading such as ESO. 250GB is a good size if you're on a budget. Keep the 1TB HDD in your build and use this for file storage.

Consider some alternatives to the GTX 970. It's a good card but there's newer cards coming out which will offer more performance for a similar price. For example, AMD RX 480 at the end of the month and the GTX 1060 possibly next month. If you want to build your system while you wait you can use the i5-6500's onboard graphics, which are decent enough for some light gaming.

Consider 16GB of DDR4 if you can. Whilst 8GB is fine for now. 16GB will give your system some future proofing. RAM prices are currently in a good place. It's not worth going 2133 Mhz to save a pound or two, get at least 2400 Mhz.
