Hi

I currently have a Vodafone thg3000 router in the living room and have an Ethernet cable connected to a Tenda 1gb power over Ethernet next to it which connects to another power over Ethernet upstairs on the other side of the house in the study which then connects to a switch for multiple devices (smart heating/laptop/pc and an access point (ac lite) for better WiFi upstairs.
Also downstairs in the living room is tv, pc pvr and games console connected via wifi.

I have just upgraded to Vodafone 900mb fibre and advised that my existing router thg3000 is still suitable. I have cat 5e cables but some are only giving 100mb so may just get some replacement cat 6

Now with wired Ethernet from the router to the pc in living room I get 943mb which is fantastic but if I use wifi even right next to the router it drops to 500mb and tails off to 90mb in the study upstairs and if I use power over Ethernet to the study it caps around 90mbs as well.

I have read about replacing router or getting a mesh system but seems they only go up to 500mb unless spending a significant amount of cash. Is the best option to keep the router and have an Ethernet cable under the floor or behind the skirting in living room to pc and perhaps additional one for tv, have the pvr and old Xbox 360 games console via wifi. Then for upstairs have an Ethernet cable through the wall and connect to the switch as before reusing the ac lite access point for upstairs wifi and wired Ethernet for pc/laptop in the bedrooms we have fire sticks so they would connect to the access point

Perhaps I should replace the router as well and get something like an ax3000 for better wifi downstairs and perhaps room above, for the cabling need to get some quotes form some companies in the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire area if any recommendations as I think may be better than having a go myself with upfront cost of materials , and time

Appreciate any comments thanks

Pretty sure my hauwei ax3 can do 1,000Mbs over ethernet
Definitely can do it over wifi
At £30 each it certainly isn't a significant amount
To get yourself a WiFi 6 mesh set-up
I only have 500Mbs but they max it out both wired and wifi
Was looking at 900Mbs so pretty certain I checked
They were capable of it
