Im looking to get a netbook that is:
13" or smaller, to fit in back pack and for easy mobility
I want a good processor to handle low level multi tasking (word, email, power point at once)
I would like to be able to install or have one pre installed, an SSD to reduce load times
Gaming is a non issue, connectivity is a major issue
budget is up to £800, but would like suggestions for best in price band since net books are not a topic i am familiar with, would like to see all the options
thinkpad X200/X201 suits your needs to a tee.
takes regular 2.5" SATA disk drives, uses high-speed C2D's or I5's for the new X201s
they almost always have excellent connectivity, (Wifi A/G/N, Bluetooth 2.0 and WWAN in almost all models)
battery life is normally superb unless you're really
thrashing the CPU.
it doesn't have a CD drive, but i bought a USB one and i've only used it three times in the past 7 months
it's a 12" laptop, weighs less than 1.5KG, has the best laptop keyboard in the world.
i bought mine (at £400 off retail!) from here:

here are some X200 units currently in stock that are in your budget:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NR3FEUK-Think...t=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item5ad99fa36d - high spec, 2.53GHz C2D, 4GB of DDR3, WWAN, 250GB HDD etc...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NR385UK-Think...t=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item5ad9924363 - 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB, WWAN, 200GB HDD...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NR35MUK-Lenov...t=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item3a5afd0940 - 2.4GHz, 2GB, WWAN, 200GB HDD...
This is an X200s, which uses a low-voltage CPU which has less grunt but is quite a bit more power-efficient. makes the laptop thinner and lighter, with longer battery life, but more expensive!:

for reference, Retail on these things is about £1200 to £1500.
they aren't netbooks, they're proper industry-grade laptops with the build quality to match. no plastic chassis here - it's an aluminium/titanium composite for both the lower base and the upper lid, meaning it's strong as hell while still light as a feather. you're not going to get this level of quality from anyone else, except maybe HP's similarly priced business laptops.
