Advice for Quieting

I recently decided to swap my Silenced NZXT Phantom 410 for the Corsair Carbide 540 Airflow and although i love the case the fans are rather loud and unlike the NZXT there is no fan controls.

I have read a post on here about some others that have the 540 case and people have recommended getting the the Bitfenix Recon Fan Controller or some be quiet silent fans.

My confusion is that my motherboard the Z77 D3H motherboard has 4 pin PWM ports and my case has 3 pin connectors and for some odd reason whatever fan i plug into system fan 1 only runs at 400 rpm while the others hover around 11rpm.

...What i want to know is, if i buy the Bitfenix Recon Fan Controller will it firstly work and secondly with my motherboard and allow me to turn down each of the fans independantly and thirdly will it quieten the fans enough or are they just noisy fans whatever speed they run at ?

I dont mind my computer fans being loud when im gaming but im really fussy when im working on it in the day but as my wife monitors my account like a hawk id rather keep my spends to a miniumum by ordering the fan controller alone without having to order 3 25 quid fans as well.

Any advice would be much appreciated

thanks

anyone ?

sorry just realised i didnt finish the post title properly, i was meant to write, advice on quieting down Case fans...would really appreciate any advice from anyone on this.

thanks for the reply dude, so the fan will work ok ? will i really need the fans to quieten it do you think or will the fan controller work ok ?

Could always swap the default fans for the AF140 Quiet Edition, hook them up to a controller and run them at 50%, they're barely audible. I got my 540 last week and was in the same position, lucky had 2 spare controllers in the attic so used one of those.

So i take it you have the default AF140 then ? did the controllers turn them down ok ?
