I am looking for some advice here, selling a monitor. I am not selling it in this thread, it will probably end up on ebay. In passing, I can probably put a link to the sale if it is not against forum rules, but I will do that in a separate comment later so the mods have time to warn me against posting it, if it is against the rules. Anyway, now to the questions -

The monitor has just arrived from Dell as a replacement for my old monitor which has hiccuped in it’s last year of warranty. What the didn't know is that I already replaced the old monitor with a different one so I can sell the one they sent me.

The thing is, I am not sure how to sell it. At the moment it is still sealed in it’s original box (it arrived today). Do you think it would be better to keep it that way, so it is "proof" that it is new, or should I open it and test it? If I open it I can also note down the serial number to use if the buyer tries a fast one on me.

Also, what is a good price for a monitor like this? It’s an AW3821DW so new are £1200 ish, but of course in the sales you could get one for about £980, I think. I was thinking in terms of about half price plus shipping. So, say £550 + £40 shipping. Is that reasonable? Should it be higher? Lower? Bear in mind that as with all ebay items there will be no warranty with it.

Should this be a pickup only and cash or should I ship it? Will people travel for a “good buy” of this level of cost? I am nervous of shipping it if something happens I could end up seriously out of pocket! Shipping is so expensive.

There is a members market on here, not sure how many posts you need to gain access to it.

Within there is an area for price checking of items.

Hope this helps.

@SpellowHouse is currently 19 posts away from the 1000 needed for access.

For clarity, you can't link you're own ebay threads here (this thread), not anywhere else within the forums, including the Members Market.

Yep, now I am in the members market (puffs chest out!) I will talk about it in there and ultimately offer it up for sale to members before I go to ebay. I would much rather sell it to people who know what they are buying than random idiots on ebay :)

Cool, I'll close this thread now as you can use the price check sub-forum to get a better answer :)
