Good Evening!

Im currently running this set up

Cooler Master MasterBox MB520 ARGB - ATX is the case i currently have
B450 Carbon Gaming AC Mobo
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX580 8GB DDR5
650 Watt Power Supply

My question is, What upgrade GPU would be best for my set up?

Am i better upgrading the Processer aswell? As id also like to upgrade from 16gb to 32gb ram and they dont sell the ones i have in currently.

My ex partner helped me build this computer and its been many years since ive been inside a pc til i helped him build me this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kio

Hi, the gpu is a little dependent on the monitor youre gsming on and the budget you want to spend?
... If 1080p, a 3060ti is a great gpu. 3070ti is 1440p, 3080 and above for 4k
Best value is an nvidia FE card., though hard to get... Thryre dropped once a month roughly, and anything under a 3080ti goes in minutes. You need to subscribe to FEPartAlert via telegram on your phone.. Drops happen any time, and only 1 card per person, per household, per generation(ie 3000 series).
Amd cards miss out in raytracing compared to nvidia and dont hVe dlss, but can be cheaper, so 6600 sits below 3060, 6600xt between 3060 and a 3060ti, 6700xt below a 3070, 6800xt below a 3080.

Amd s/b releasing new cpu next month(as well as nvidia releasing super variants of some of their cards).. Cpu are meant to offer a 15% uplift in gaming so would wait for that before looking at upgrading cpu
Gpu will give the best uplift in gaming by far

Thanks for your reply, The TV i use is 4k, I only get 1080 atm due to my setup!

lm going to buy a part a month dependant on how many parts im actually gonna upgrade, Id of said a guesstimate of my budget would be

350 - 400 for a gpu
200 for ram

Do i actually 'need' raytracing? is it recommended?

Do you need 32GB or ram for something specific? Otherwise, for gaming and light productivity, save the cash and use it on the GPU.

I do have 16GB atm and im not sure im even using it bar modded minecraft, i give it 10GB Ram just to run smoothly

See if you still need that upgrade last, once you have the new GPU and CPU. Mods can eat into RAM, but 16GB is enough for most people - use the money on a better GPU.

GPU pricing still isn’t great so basically get the least overpriced option. Nvidia offer more/better features, but both offer fairly even base performance.

I have looked over different options and was looking at going for these for my upgrade, I have made sure they are compatible with my mobo, I just need to have a look at sizes also, As im unsure they will fit in my case.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Eight Core 3.8GHz (Socket AM4) APU with RX Vega Graphics
Sapphire Radeon RX 6600 Pulse Gaming 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I just wonder if its worth upgrading the power supply to an 800 watt supply

Those aren’t bad options. What are the main games that you play, and is there anything coming out that you want to play?

Do you have the model for your current PSU? Your 650 will likely be enough though so I wouldn’t upgrade that unless you ran into issues.

6600 you on a par with a 5700, and pairing that with a newer CPU will have no difference to fps as seen in top vid, as the performance will be limited by the gpu, not the CPU. It's not until you start getting to 3070 territory that the performance in games becomes bottlenecked by the cpu.
The 5700g is £330 and the gpu £430, so £770 total.
I'd seriously wait to see what the new AMD cpu's do next month and in the meantime try and get an fe card...if you want to seriously game at 4k on your tvö, then you're looking at a 3080fe for £650, though any of the lesser cards will still beat the 6600..3060ti £369, 3070 £469, 3070ti £529...
If you snag a 3080 though, you'll have to upgrade your psu, I'd suggest 850w(they recommend 750w min)

Its a Scythe Mugen 5 that i currently have for PSU

Im not playing any new games at the minute, But i do have games like ARK, Satisfactory, Which my GPU currently deals with Ultra settings. I think id also just like to upgrade so that i know if any new games come out in the new year i want to play, I can play them on decent graphics

I also have Death Stranding and can play comfortably at 60-80fps on highest settings with no lag, But that is definitly a game id LOVE to play in 4k graphics

:D

As your in no rush to upgrade you have time to maybe grab an fe Gpu but as a comparison the 6600xt is double the performance of your rx 580. The 580 is worth £250 to £300 in the used market making an upgrade more affordable.

No im in no rush at the moment, Is there anything i should look out for if buying second hand? i.e working / damage

Regarding the 5700g

https://youtu.be/xKXMy0lUBhw

Go to 16mins odd...remember this is paired with a rtx3090...the 5700g performs below that of a 5600x...this is because to fit the GPU on the chip, they cut l3 cache in half, which hampers performance, so although its 8 core, it still cant compete vs the 6 core 5600x in gaming...

A modern 2nd hand gpu not that much different in price compared to the shops, just they tend to be more available as shops sell out faster as any problems, you'll get more help from them than via 2nd hand, and also full warranty in shop as new

Yes this was also my thoughts in regards to guarantees on products
