I bought my son this PC https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...s-pb02-ep.html?page=2&locales[]=en_GB#reviews
and want to add either M.2 or SSD drive for his games. The real lame part is that I don't live with him so I can't take a look under the hood :( can anyone tell me if I can send him another drive to add in easily? We are both Noobs but he's 13 and the least amount of work he has to do the better. Unfortunately the external WD Black drive I got him eventually failed, so before I go buy another external I thought I'd ask the experts! Thanks.

Yes I will
It'll be helpful 'cos we can see what slots are available.

M.2 drives are easy in theory, but have to check the standoff is in the right place and that there's a screw present. They can also need removing other parts like a heatsink and the graphics card, which can complicate things :o

A SATA drive would need a free 2.5" bay, screws, a SATA data cable and a power cable from the PSU.

Silly question, but have you actually checked the free space? It's got a 1TB drive and you can get quite a few games on there.

Sata would definately be easiest due to no danger of losing screw or having to have the correct screwdriver. Wouldn't notice a speed difference in reality, although it would also be a shame not to buy an M2.

Well, if identical to the link you sent then it's the z760 msi gaming plus wifi mobo. Has 2 m.2 slots, 1 is in use as the windows drive, leaving one spare...you can see it in the photo of the motherboard within the case and is accessible without taking out the gpu...it has no heatsink, and has 3 screw holes at variousdistance from the slit to cater for differentsize m.2 drives, so hopefully they'll be in the box of accessories..very easy..the 1st standoff is screwed in(can do by hand at the correct distance...can check by just slotting in m.2 and seeing which screws hole it lines up to...(remove ssd then attach the standoff)..put ssd back on and push down gently against the standoff and use a screw to hold down in place...thats it...you're done. Had to do this with my b550 board back in the day.
Just get a m 2 that has a heatsink on it(as the board doesn't have one)
Hopefully you son can confirm..if it's different then ignore the above..

Excellent info! Thank you hope to get some clarity ASAP

There should be space for 2 x 2.5" Sata SSD's behind the motherboard tray.

Looking at this video, there should be a little bag with standoff and screw for the extra NVME drive, but that is if OCUK sent the extras and if your son still has them.

worst case you can buy m.2 standoff/screw set with a small screwdriver for msi/asus/gigabyte boards for £5.99 on certain well know website..prob sell them on ocuk, but would have thought they's ship with the build tbh..quick ring they'd prob ship OP one anyway if he bought the m.2 at same time once he shows receipt of pc purchase

Such great info. The video is incredibly useful - thanks! Amazing feedback on here, I obviously came to the right place :)
