Hi there, I've had my CPU stable at 4.2 for a while now, and i have tried for 4.5 in the past although I've never managed to get it stable. The problem i found was it would cope under a stress test but the moment i stopped the test (prime 95) it would hang.

Spec:
3570K
16gb (4x4gb) Geil Dragon Ram
ASUS P8Z77 LX
ATI 7950

The current settings i have on 4.2 (from ASUS TurboV EVO) are:
BCLK Freq : 1.050
CPU voltage: 1.020
DDR Voltage: 1.500
VCCSA Voltage: 1.050
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.8
PCH Voltage: 1.050
CPU Ratio: 42

Digi+VRM settings:

could you offer any advice to help me get to 4.5+?

Thanks :)

at 4.2 im not sure you need to play with llc, im running 4.3 on my 3770k at regular. Are you running auto and offset vcore or manual, also what are your temps and cpu-z readings?

I believe i did an offset on the vcore, i originally overclocked using BIOS but have just installed the ASUS software for simplicity at the mo.

First image idle, Second under load

highest core maxed at 71 degrees after a bit of prime 95, and the memory is at standard timings, which is 11-11-11-28 at 1600mhz.

should i try the settings recommended above, baring in mind that i did an offset in the bios, would that affect anything?

Thanks

e: the Core voltage on CPUZ when idle is bouncing around a fair bit, between 0.016 and 1.240, is that normal?

using the 0% LLC and a -0.05 offset and it still seems stable at 4.2, with 1.192 Core Voltage on cpu compared to the 1.264 previously.

im looking for a good constant overclock, is 1.3 a good idea for that or do you mean try them out as a starting point and work down from there? i will give it a go now though and report back, thanks :)

I had no luck with trying 1.3v at 4.5, I think I prefer using the offset anyway, although so far its gone from 4.2 with -0.005 offset to needing +0.040 offset for 4.3, currently testing it now

e: do you think the optimal point for my cpu is to just keep it at 4.2, or is it worth trying for that bit extra?

As I say I need 1.355 at 4.5, as long as you temps aren't a problem its fine

ah okay, i think ill try working my way up there with the offset either way though, thanks :)

seems stable at 4.3 with a +0.050 offset so far, I'm not sure if that's good or bad though, as it seems quite a jump from -0.005 from 4.2

either way, I'm going to see how it gets on with 4.4 now :)

with .050 offset what are your actual voltages in cpuz also how are your temps looking

Core Voltage at +0.050 is 1.248 under load, tempts are still hovering around 70 degrees :)

was just trying for 4.4 and was still not quite stable at +0.085

e: odd things are happening now though, like Firefox crashing, its got to be related to the overclock, although it seems strange to me, few other things have crashed too, like the Desktop Window Manager process and things

hmm, i think i will just go back to 4.2 then, i don't really do anything to warrant the extra power. ill run it at 4.2 with the -0.005 offset for a while to make sure its properly stable then, at least until the next time i find myself with nothing to do ;)

Thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it :D
