Hey Guys,

I really need help on my upgrade path, I want to upgrade mainly for BF3 & would like to play it on Ultra (AA Would be nice not neccsasary) Spec in Sig.

just to declare i have the money to buy any of these cards 4x over and have money to spare but i don't want to waste Loads Cash when i don't need to.

not sure what screen to use but would rather use 30" or 27" due to the higher emersion experience

Currently have 570GTX 1.2GB

Monitor(s) i Have
HP LP2475w 24" 1920x1200
Samsung 305T 2560x1600
Imac 27" 2560x1440

Nvidia Cards
Overall Benefit
Physx
Seem To Better Drivers (swing and roundabouts (NV/AMD)
Overall Disadvtange
- More Expensive

Cards im looking at:
590 GTX 3GB - £679
580GTX SLI - 3GB - £958
580GTX - 3GB - £479

At these because cheaper
570GTX SLI - 2560MB - £640
570GTX - 2560MB - £315

AMD Cards
Overal Benefits

Can Use The Imac Screen (requires Displayport) (then can sell 30" for £600)
Cheaper

Disadvantage
No Physx
Cards Im Looking at
6990 - 4GB - £679
6970 - Xfire - 4GB - £562
6970 - 2GB - £281

At these because cheaper
6950 - 2GB - £440
6950 - 2GB - £239

What Cards should i go for
Any Help Would be Appericated

So are you buying more monitors or sticking to the ones you have?

I would go for the GTx 580 3GB SLI's. You may also want to consider GTX 570 2.5GB SLI. The EVGA ones that OcUK stock have displayport so you can use your iMac screen :)

I would go with dual 6970's. Highest performance at a much better price point and you can sell your 30" to pay for them and have a bit left over. Also i think physx is a bit of a gimmick, not that big of a list of games use it anyway.

PhysX isn't worth spending extra money to have but it's nice if you have games that use it :)

I personally prefer nvidia so i will recommend the 570's, but the 6970's would probably be my second choice

The 570 is a cracking card - will breeze through BF3 at 1920x1200.

You don't need to spend any money.

Yea but he will be gaming at i presume either 2560x1600 or 2560x1440

this :)

sticking to one of them, like i said rather the bigger screens.

Ill have to look at those 570's do you think they be powerful enough?

Yea, i think its up to your preference. But from a money point of view, you can sell your 30" and your current 570gtx if you buy the 6970's.

If you were to get dual 570's would you be selling you imac 27" or not?

personally, i'd sell th iMac screen as it's a smaller screen and lower res

if the cards support displayport id be seeling the the samsung. for orobably £600

im not selling the imac as its 27" i7 imac that i use for photo/video editing... its a fully working manchine

i wont be keeping my current 570GTX as at 1.2gb ram it anit gunna be enough is it?

Ahh i see! So you would pass the signal into the imacs screen? Umm at a res of 2560x1440 1.2 maybe cutting it short. 2GB would be fine for a while yet though. I honestly think your best option is to go for the 6970's purely because you can sell the 30" then.

yeh its a good idea, but then choo said 570gtxs evga has them to?:D

so basically
580GTX SLI Vs 570 SLi Vs 6970 xfire - For Free if i can sell my 30" samsung

580 SLI should probs be ruled out as there is no DP on it, depending on which card you get.

570's have more VRAM than 6970's (won't really make much of a difference)

The 570's are EVGA. EVGA = win

In general, nvidia tend to have slightly better drivers (again, won't make a huge difference)

Really, it depends on what games you play
