Hello! So ive been running a 500 quid rig for 3 years that is entry level gaming, and now that I have a job and the money, I'm looking to upgrade to a high end Intel skylake rig.

I dont really have the knowledge though, to do it by myself, so I was hoping I could get a few opinions and some advice on the build I'm thinking of going for.
I will be ordering it as a custom build from overclockers, as I don't really want to tamper with the bios and things like cable management are a pain in the arse.

So, here is the build I was thinking of going for:
CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler - Corsair H110i GTX 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard - Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
GPU - KFA2 GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Hall of Fame 8 Pack Approved Edition Video Card
Hard drive - G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
SSD - Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Chasis - Corsair Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU - Corsair RM 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive - Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer

Please let me know what you think, and of there's anything I should change. I don't really want to spend too much more, as ordering from overclockers means it's going to cost around 150 more than ordering and building myself.

Thanks!

Delete the competitor link mate before you get suspended.

What's your total budget?

Cheers, didn't realize I couldn't put it up, will 're add later after I finish work. Total budget Is probably £2000, but bare in mind I'm not sure if I'll be charged extra from oc as I'm having to go through email and custom build.

OcUK sell custom builds and are all priced ready for delivary. the only time the price changes is if you want to alter the build.

What kind of games are you playing and is that the only thing you use the pc for?

I know, but the configuration choices only have reference cards. And are limited on things like psu etc, also can't get the water cooler I want (corsair 110i gtx or htx can't remember name now).

Currently just gaming, yes. Games like world of warcraft, just cause, battlefield, witcher 3, rainbow 6 siege etc

OcUK usually good with the systems, pick one you like the look of and give the CS team a ring, or post in the CS forum at the top if you prefer ye olde written communication. They'll fix you up with different parts no problem :)

Oh really? I'll look at doing that then. Will have to use forums as I work till their closing time, wouldn't be able to ring till next tuesday.

Thanks @MooMoo444! Also, updated the post with the specs I was going to go for, could you give me your opinion please? :)

Spec looks fine at first glance, but you might have an issue with this :p

What would the issue be?

Oh! Woops, meant to put the seagate there! Silly me.

Anyway, looks pretty solid? 2 of my friends keep telling me I'm going overkill because they paid 1000 for theirs and they get 60fps and that is all that's needed. But I also plan on using maximum resolution, and possibly going for 4k (if I decide to go sli later on).

Honestly it looks fine, the 1000w PSU is a good idea if you plan to go SLI in the future. There's nothing overkill about this setup that I can see.

Worth getting some second opinions though, see what other folks suggest.

My friend who is studying computer science said it was a nice build, and to be honest I'm more than happy to take your word for it. I have the money, and I don't have anything else I want to spend it on, so I might as well go for what I like if it's a solid build. Thanks for your help mate, posted in the CS section. Hopefully they can sort me out. :)

Get a different power supply. The Corsair RM is a bit meh.

The XFX is a bargain (Seasonic built). If you want Corsair then go with the improved RMi. The EVGA G2 is also a fantastic unit.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £386.03
(includes shipping: £11.10)

I meant to change that. I was going to get the Corsair HX1000i 1000W '80 Plus Platinum Digital Modular Power Supply (CP-9020074-UK) instead. Would that be a good choice? I know it's a bit pricey, but as I said, I have plenty of money and nothing in particular to spend it on. :p

I don't think Platinum units are worth the extra money, but it is up to you. The HXi is a very good unit as well.

Ah right. Well, I've already made the thread in the customer service section enquiring about the build, so I'll just go with the platinum anyway. Thanks for the advice though buddy. It's appreciated. :D

If you haven't paid then anything can be changed. Another vote for the G2 here, they are great, and the 10 year warranty is brilliant. Made by Superflower I believe.

Most my Corsair PSUs eventually died, one very prematurely. To hand it to them I think they had a bad patch and the customer service was excellent.
