I noticed my temps in the PC where going up and up and up. Alarm sounded so i turned off the pc.

I let it all cool down and did a bit of poking about.

I managed to find out that the GPU fan doesnt work :( It hit like over 80 Celsius. Would you say this is fried lol.

Is it worth trying to fix the fan or bin it.

Its a Nvidia 8600gt overclocked thingy :)

thanks

Usualy graphics cards these day and age have inbuilt thermal cutoff temps set.
so if your card fan failed when the card hit say 100c it would throttle down and if it went any higher it would just power off into safemod where as the screen would go completely black.
and require a system reboot to fix.

i dont think the card would have suffered.

Well it hit about 80c i think, then i quickly shut the pc down.

I don't have another machine to try it in :( I think i may just bin it. I only brought it to play halo2 and it only just managed to play that.

i just tried it in my pc and it works fine BUT the fan doesnt work, it sort of tries to spin but doesnt almost as if its stuck, but i tried turning it and it still doesnt do anything.

Just got a really old card in the pc now :(

Man dont bin it LOL if you really want to get a new card and bin it i wouldnt mind it.
check out my thread in the wanted section, i could possibly use it as a web/movie viewing card lol im desprate heh
