I'm currently looking at building my own custom PC for professional work (and gaming on the side, although this is less important). My work is graphics/vfx/rendering intensive using programs such as Maya and Mudbox from Autodesk as well as programs such as Houdini and RealFlow for fluid and particle VFX. I very stupidly do my current work at home on a (powerful) laptop but this is obviously very prone to overheating and is in desperate need of being replaced for a desktop!!
I've never built my own PC before but I've done my research and I believe I've covered most things, just wanted any advice on how everything will work together or if I have chosen anything that is too overkill etc! Money is not too much of an issue at this point as long as the build does the job.
My only real thing at the moment I have little clue about is the motherboard - most of them seem to be suitable in terms of ports etc and I would prefer Asus or Gigabyte but I don't know what the advantage is to buying a higher spec one so any more technical advice on this would be great.
