Hi i recently bought a asrock 4 core vsta running a e2200 at 2.7ghz,2 gb of dd2 2 667 and also a Powercolour 3850 extreme.
i am getting about 9500 on 3d mark 06 which a massive increase from my x1950 pro agp card of 5000.
The current Asrock board i`m using has a PCI Express speed of 4X which from what i can gather means a loss of about 20% over a 16x,what would be the best and cheapest 775 board that i can buy supporting full 16x pci e for my 3850 and enough to overclock my e2200 to around the 2.7ghz mark.
thanks
Steve

thanks for the advice van,one of the reviews for the Abit, says that the artic freezer 7 does not fit properly on the board,i have a artic freezer 7 so that won`t be any good.
Do you know if it will fit on the other one you mentioned
Thanks
Steve

It will fit on the IP35-E with very minor surgery to the fan mount.
If you need RAID & firewire the IP35 has a different chipset cooler & it's not a problem at all.

Thanks for the reply Buff,so it will fit on the IP35 pro just fine
Thanks for the help.i will order one

Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Intel P31 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Just been looking at the boards and money is a little tight,i`ve found the above board which is a little cheaper.
Will this board be ok?
Or am i better off with the ocuk ip35 pro
The one thing the board needed to have was a 16x pci for my power colour 3850 which the gigabyte has, will i still be able to overclock my e2200 a little aswell.
thanks Steve

I believe that board is supposed to overclock pretty well.
Iirc the main differences between P31 & P35 are memory support (speed & quantity) & the southbridge .

Ended up buying the Gigabyte board currently got my e2200 running at 3ghz from 2.2,read a few threads on here reguarding oveclocking it,however it is in fine playing games, dirt crysis and running 3dmark 06 but when i run Orthos it fails after 38 seconds and my temps are upto 80!!! running it.
Coming out of Dirt they are around 50,idle they are 25.
does anyone know whats causing Orthos to crash,i`m using a artic cooler 7
