Im a graphic designer and have always been quite picky about my monitors since purchasing my very first dell ultrasharp 30" premier colour monitor a few years back but with one of my two monitors blown and signs my other one is now fading and probably due the same fate im on the lookout for a new screen and something big enough to acommodate the two 30" screen space and quality im used to.

So ive been looking at the reviews for the ultrawide UC99 primarily for graphic design and development work and general use with gaming as an added exra. I was literally about to order one when my wife so kindly reminded me of when the last time i purchased a monitor - The Dell U3415W and found it terrible and sent it back around 3 or 4 years ago. Now my memory is a bit fuzzy but i think the general issues i found with the Dell U3415W was the poor viewing angles, edge bleeding and bad colour accuracy and my biggest worry is ordering it and experiencing the same problems but my hope is that this is a new type of IPS and they have really improved over the years ?

So ive watched a lot of reviews and apart from the fact i use Nvidia graphics cards (making freeview redundant) Ive noticed its got 100% colour accuracy and a lot of reviews say its a really good screen for photoshopping and graphic design. My worry is that all the reviews and comments are from people who have never experienced a try premier colour dell screen but with that said i dont mind compromising a little while and may even use alongside my dell 30" instead of a replacement.

Can anyone recommend or give me any pros or cons or expectancies for this type of display at all and tell me how or what to expect compared to my dell ultrasharp ive had for years ?

Id really appreciate some help !

I didnt just have one Dell U3415W I had two, they both suffered the same issues.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Ive just been onto a dell specialist (and similar to a post ive just noticed on here) and he recommended i maybe go for the Dell 3216Q, when i asked if it was upto the quality of my current Dell 3011 he said "Not really, they really dont make panels like that anymore im afraid !"

WTH is going on with screen nowdays ? Im really stuck now, i need a new screen and really dont fancy shelling out more money for an inferior panel !

From what I've found after a lot of research trying to find a 27" replacement for my old dell 2408 and hp 2475 wide gamut screens, you can either pay the eizo/nec tax and get a quality screen or gamble with the dell/hp/benq offerings that may or may not be up to scratch. Problem is in your case, professional monitors don't seem to come in ultra wide or massive sizes.

Thanks Kei, I had the 2408 as well, my son still has it. I dont mind dropping to 27 inch and getting a couple of monitors which im guessing im going to have to do. Im just finding it odd how little monitors have progressed....whats really annoying me is i saw a friends imac 27 5k screen a couple of weeks back and that was impressive, why are they including them in theirs and yet everything else on the market is so extortionate !
