Hey everyone, so i've recently specced a new build with a fairly tight budget, but as i've been out of the whole technology loop, i was wondering if the items listed were suitable and compatable for eachother.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £161.99

MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £139.98

Gainward GeForce GTX 460 GS 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £134.39

Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) £69.98

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £46.98

OCZ Special OPS 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £37.99

OEM Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500418AS) £31.99

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 939 / AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1155/ 1156 / 1366) £17.99

Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.98

£656.27
£546.89 ex VAT

I've never actually overclocked before but some friends of mine have said it's now extremely easy with 2500k, so i was wondering if this build would be stable etc.

I also came from a e8400, 2gb ram, 8800gt so will this be a massive performance boost? I'll be mainly playing games such as WoW, BFBC2, CSS

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, i'd like to keep around the £650 mark pref. less

Thanks in advance.

two questions before i get to work.

1. what is the computer mostly going to be used for?
2. do you plan to use 2 graphics cards in crossfire or SLI in the future?

*edit*
just done some fine tuning on your build to save you a bit of cash for no performance drop:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £161.99
1 x MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £139.98 B3 revision = fixed sata slots
1 x OcUK Value GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £124.99 exactly the same card, just slightly different cooler. overclocking the graphics card to the same level as the one you selected originally is as simple as moving a few sliders
1 x XFX 650W XXX Edition Modular Power Supply £74.99 same Watts, slightly better reliability, just as SLI compliant, also, modular
1 x Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £46.98
1 x OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) £36.98 slightly cheaper, and lower voltage
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500413AS) £30.98 cheaper, and uses 6GB/s socket
1 x Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler (Socket 939 / AM2 / AM3 / 775 / 1155/ 1156 / 1366) £17.99
1 x Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.98
Total : £664.86 (includes shipping : £12.50).

please dont think that the build you have chosen is auful or that your bad at choosing or anything like that just because ive made a lot of changes. its a very nice build, but there were just a few ways to shave a few pounds off of it

i figured it would be for gaming.

if your not using SLI or crossfire, then you can save a hell of a lot of money

changed the PSU to a 530W bequiet. will be perfectly fine for what you have

changed the motherboard to one that doesnt do crossfire (because you pay a hell of a lot more for that)

changed the graphics card for one thats better, and cheaper. comparison of the two cards (new one on the top):

1 x MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £104.99
1 x Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £46.98
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98
1 x OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) £36.98
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500413AS) £30.98

Total : £587.86 (includes shipping : £12.50).

with the extra money, you could either spend it on an even better graphics card, or a better processor cooler so you could get a bigger overclock, or just have the fan running quieter
