Might be buying a second hand 1D - MKII (approx £1600)

I'm firstly assuming that a 1D - MKII in good nick is worth at least £1600

two questions, firstly how much would i be looking for a Canon-Fit lens to replace the 300D Kit EF-S Lens as iirc it will not work with a 1DS

and how much should i be able to get for a 300D kit with battery grip these days?

so tempted at that price.

The kit lens isn't great with a 300D, with a 1D I would think it'd be awful even if it were converted to an EF fit.

A good body needs good glass, I'd be looking at the 24-70L F2.8 or the 24-105 IS F4L on a 1.3x crop.

300D+grip at a guess would fetch ~£350-400

Without the money you'd have to wait to get outstanding results, whereas you could look at getting a 20D and a good lens for that price and have great results with immediate effect.

The 20D would be a major upgrade from the 300D - it overcomes a lot of issues. Is there a specific reason for going for the 1D over a 20D? Is the crop issue a factor?

If the EF-S lens is the only one you have you'll end up with a a nice body and nothing to fit on it.

I have to agree that a 20D might be a better way to go, especially now the 30D is fast approaching. You'll be finding plenty of second hand ones about me thinks, and save yourself enough money to get decent glass.
