I am at a crossroads at the moment. Unfortunately my AGP 1950pro looks like it has died on me and Ive sent it back for RMA.

My current built is in my signature but I was planning on upgrading to an intel 775 system.

Because I had a new 1950pro I was going to go with the Asrock Vsta board which would let me keep my AGP. But as this is going back I might go to PCI-E.

I have a E6420 cpu and Asrock board coming in post.

Should i change it to a pci-e board and get a pci-e graphics card instead?

Thanks

Absolutely, if you can. AGP is effectively dead now in terms of new products, PCIe is the current technology until next week at least.....

If the Asrock board is already being delivered why don't you see how you enjoy the CPU boost then upgrade the board and card later on when you feel you need an extra boost.

Like the guy said AGP is a dying bread.

If I went to a PCI-e board which should I go for?

I am on a cheap budget, so looking around £50 to £70.

If I went with the ASrock board and kept my 9800xt, would I see much improvement?

Is it worth waiting for new tech as I cant afford the high end stuff.

I was thinking about getting a 8800gts and a mb with some cheap ddr2 ram. Any price drops for them in near future?

If you only have a 9800, then yeah PCI-E is proberly the way to go, sorry think i read your post too quickly first time round.

Assumed from the sig you had the 1950 already.

Regarding price drops, memory is the cheapest it's been in a while, and OcUK already have the best prices for video cards.

How much do you want to spend, and what games and resolution do you play at?

Yeah I had the 1950pro but it was faulty so sending back.

It was worth about £144. I then have about £50 from the mb if I return the asrock which hasnt arrived yet.

I play games at 1280x1040

Lately just been playing CSS. But i play oblivion, BF2145 and some others.

Appreciate your help.
