Advice needed on full new build please

Hello everyone,
I am about to build a new computer as my current PC is 6 years old and although it is performing alright I think it is time I upgrade. I would really appreciate some advice as I am not up to date with current components and would like to ensure I don't buy something unnecessary or something which won't be used to it's full potential.

What I want from a new pc - This pc will purely be for gaming. It will be very unlikely I will use this for anything other than gaming and browsing.
The main game I play at the moment is Hunt: Showdown however I often switch between games which is why I want this computer to be as well rounded and future proof as possible.

These are some of the components I have been looking at:
Cooler - Corsair H115 Pro (I have this already and will take it off my current pc as it is only 1 year old)
Case - Corsair 4000D Airflow Mid-tower case (have this already)
Motherboard - ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 CHIPSET ATX MOTHERBOARD (went for this over the E version as I do not need onboard wifi)
CPU - RYZEN 7 5800X EIGHT CORE 4.7GHZ (SOCKET AM4) PROCESSOR
GPU - Need help on this one, do I go 3080 Ti or 3090? When I have decided I will ask for further advice on the GPU forum :)
PSU - PROFESSIONAL SERIES HX 850W '80 PLUS PLATINUM' MODULAR POWER SUPPLY (CP-9020138-UK)
RAM - VENGEANCE LPX BLACK 32GB (2X16GB) 3600 MHZ AMD RYZEN TUNED DDR4 MEMORY DUAL KIT
Storage -
980 PRO 250GB M.2 2280 PCI-E 4.0 X4 NVME SOLID STATE DRIVE (for operating system)
970 EVO PLUS 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-E 3.0 X4 NVME SOLID STATE DRIVE (for certain games)
2TB BARRACUDA HDD 7200RPM 256MB CACHE INTERNAL HARD DRIVE (ST2000DM008) (for everything else)

OS - Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

Are all of these components compatible or are there any obvious bottle neck issues?
Are there any bundle deals I may have missed?

It looks very good. I’d personally go with an X570S motherboard and 4x8gb sticks of single rank B-Die.
For the graphics card I’d go with a 6900XTX. They are typically referred to as XTXH cards.
The Gigabyte X570S Aero G supports 4x NVME drives.
 
Nothing too crazy with the main components but you should have a rethink with your storage.

You are spending a lot of money and should be looking at 1tb nvme drives for the limited M.2 slots. They are not expensive and WD SN850 1tb for OS drive and SN550 1 or 2 tb for storage would be more sensible choices. Can go for Samsung drives if you want but they are generally more expensive.

Brand overpriced board for badly designed failure timer chipset cooler:
Actual chipset heatsink under marketing excrements is tiny.
And relies on small fan constricted by more marketing BS to really do its job under load.
With whole crud in the worst place directly under heat of graphics card.​

MSI X570 Tomahawk is far superior design with properly designed big chipset heatsink in better position allowing passive operation, if you have good case cooling.

If spending that much on brand hype for bad design job, might as well put £10 more into memory for getting Crucial Ballistix with one of the tightest timings.
Also TeamGroup 8pack with dual rank Samsung B-die isn't anymore as insane priced as it used to be.


And that storage configuration is super bad.
First of all number of M.2 slots is very limited and you would be wasting them for tiny drives.
And you would be wasting money on Samsung's brand overprices:
1TB Crucial P5 is same price as that overpriced 970 Evo.
Biggest games are 200+ GB and hence 1TB NVMe should be minimum for any above low end gaming PC.
DirectStorage of future games will also support only NVMes for use of SSD optimized code.

With how much you're putting money into parts with low return for price/value keeping for future 2TB drive wouldn't be out of place.
 
I’d be careful with the 2tb seagate 256mb drives. Some of them can be pretty slow. Toshiba might be a better option.

Following most of the advice how does this build now look:
Replaced the storage for: 2 x BLACK SN850 1TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E GEN4 SOLID STATE DRIVE (S100T1X0E)
Ram now: TEAM GROUP EDITION 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-28800C16 3600MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT - BLACK
GPU will most likely be a 3080
Motherboard: Gigabyte AMD X570S AERO G ATX Motherboard OR Gigabyte AMD X570S AORUS PRO AX ATX Motherboard (which one is better?)

The rest of the components are unchanged and are as follows:

I'd get the 32gb teamgroup ram over the 16gb ram..it's basically the same price, and often goes to £179(if looking at same ram and not mixing it up..)
I went with the rm1000x with my build below. Modern psu work at their most efficient under light load...got a 3080fe and even gaming haven't heard a peep out of it..most noise coming from gpu fans as it throttles up. Hopefully will do my next gpu upgrade in a few years too

If you're going the X570S route, worth looking at some of the msi boards too. Below is cheaper than either the Gigabyte boards
MSI MPG EDGE MAX WIFI X570S AM4 PCIe 4.0 ATX Motherboard

You could just go for a B550 board, it'll knock a chunk off the price. Could then get a 1tb sn850 as primary drive and a 2tb sn750 as 2nd drive...(I went for single 2tb SN850 with my B550 board)

I wasn't aware about the PSU load efficiency so thanks for that and the 32 gb sounds much better!

Wrong information just isn't better than no information:
Efficiency of PSUs is highest around 50% of rated max output.
But all the way to 100% load efficiency drops only couple percents from ~93% to 91%
While at low loads most PCs spend most of their power on time that 1kW PSUs falls below 85% efficiency.
 
Efficiency curve of 2021 version, so most efficient at 250 to 400W , so for an 850W rated psu, I'd say that's most efficient under lower load, which is where you'd be while gaming, no?

greatest efficiency at 30% load at 91.4%, even less if you take into account it can go to 110%, and as stated(pg 1 highlights) highly efficient at light loads, achieving 77% under 2% load, 87.7% under 10%, 91.3% at 20%(pg 2 figures)
I do get what you're saying, but I read a lot of people upgrading gpu's after 3/4 years and upgrading psu at the same time. Only just recently there was someone with a 650w psu and a 5900x and 3090(and having issues),
Running a current gpu with this psu, you'll be in the greatest efficiency band(remember OP wants a 3080ti or 3090), and 4 years down the line, hopefully the psu will still be good enough for the future gpu power requirements...leakers already saying 4090 will be 450W and maybe over in power draw, so who knows in a few generations, so getting a more powerful psu can save money in the long run as you may not need to upgrade it when upgrading other hardware
So I don't think my statement of being efficient under light loads is wrong at all
