Advice needed on gaming pc spec.

Hi I'm new to the forum and to the the world of gaming pcs so would would really appreciate any advice comments on the spec I've created below. The pc is for my son who is looking to progress from an x box one to a pc. With only some internet research and recommendations from friends I've created the following:

PC name is a 'Titan Machete'
Intel Core i5 4690K 3.5 ghz (devils canyon)
Intel Z97 Chipset
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
Super Flower 450W PSU
KFA2 GeForce GTX 750Ti OC "Low Profile" 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - HDD (secondary drive for gaming)
Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic (primary drive for windows and office)
BitFenix Shadow Tower Case - Midnight Black - blue/red LEDs (he wants some lights)
7.1 HD Audio
DVD-RW
Windows 8.1
Asus pec n15 -300mpbs wireless adapter (system must be wireless)

Then peripherals:

CM Storm devastator USB keyboard and mouse
Microlab m700 40w 2.1 speaker system
Speed link xeox pro analog USB game controller

I've been told that this is a decent spec pc but being honest I'm only going on what I've been told and the research I've done. It has to also be a system he can do school work on so we will install office to the primary drive. One thing I have been told is go for the best graphics card possible which I've done without pushing me outside my budget but am not sure how the one I have chosen will perform.

Any feedback would be gratefully received.

what's your total budget? screen + peripherals + operating system?
are you willing to build it yourself or you want ocuk to build it for you?
will you (ever) try your hand at overclocking?
how long do you forsee this pc lasting?

Hi, don't need a screen luckily enough so total budget is £885 plus the delivery charge. Will need the system built for me, it's not something I have any knowledge of. It's my son who will use the system so I guess we are on the first rung of the ladder of the gaming pc world but I want a system that will allow him to upgrade when he needs to. I know very little about over clocking but I've gone on the basis that it's best to have the option there. I'll take any advice on this though. As for how long then as long as possible so being able to upgrade as much as we can in the future. Hope this all makes sense.

ocuk are offering free delivery with the purchase of a superflower psu + a case, so i think delivery of this would be free
ocuk do offer a custom build service if you post in their customer services section of the forum (iirc they charge £60. so this should be near the top end of your budget at £900ish)

in comparison to your spec, my spec above has:
faster ram
better power supply
much better graphics card
bigger ssd drive
an aftermarket heatsink for overclocking

however trade-offs are,
a less pretty case
ditched the game controller for now
slower wireless dongle (internet speeds should not be noticeably different though...unless you're on some ultrafast fibre connection)

of course if you want to forgo overclocking, this would be potentially a much better build:

(and if it was my money, i'd probably go with this build instead)

Thank you very much for this. I'm more than happy to forgo over clocking for a system that's overall going to work better for him so am leaning towards the cheaper build. Just a couple of other questions, I assume we can consider a different case if he wants to although I recognise this could increase the price? And as the build is of separate components will overclockers charge for building the system?

I really can't thank you enough for this, I've started off knowing absolutely nothing on this. It was so much easier being an x box off the shelf!

yea, post in the customer services section of the forums with the parts you want. the build charge is nominal, and around £60 iirc
