posted twice as Im hoping some one will see my thread and give me a fix!

Please advise< >

Ever since I stupidly and incorrectly overclocked my 5970s xfire using MSI afterburner, my pc cant play games, the pc keeps on crashing only when games are started, its the black screen of death with no response.

I inceased the voltage and somthing else, oviously it was a bit too too much.

Now I have to restart it toget rid of the black screen.

I have to reset my 5970s to its default settings, But how can I?

Every time I click on afterburner I get a PC crash, Same thing with CCC control centre.

I have tried to reset default settings via the BIOs and CMOS.

No avail! H

How else can I reset the 5970s to default clock settings?

Unable to go via MSI Afterburner and CCC.

I really do not want to re-install windows as that a nightmare:(

Ps I started the pc via SAFE MODE but CCC or afterburner dont work as there driver connected and in safe mode they dont work, all I get is errors.

There must be a way to default my GPUs but how?

Coz all my games crash, I have increased the voltage and clock settings too much:eek: Please advise!

with Nvidia cards there is a way of installing drivers that returns all settings to the factory default. i would be very surprised if ATI didnt have a similar option

so, my advice would be to uninstall MSI afterburner, telling it not to save any settings for a new install, then reinstall your drivers using a reset to default option, then reinstall MSI afterburner telling it not to load any previously saved settings.

hopefully this will work because the only other idea i would have is to flash the bios of the card, which is always a risky job

Ive uninstalled after burner but the botched overclock settings remains! damn

I did a system restore, seemd to soert it but ive lost half my PC games!

Weird coz the games are gone but the games files are still on the c drive?

Somthing terribly has gone wrong!

thats the last time I'll do an overclock! even if it was succesful I doubt I wouold of noticed a difference!
