Hello,
Took a little bit of a gamble on a 1080ti, I bought a customer returned and untested card for £320. I knew there was a reasonable chance it wouldn't work but seller has a 14 day returns policy so I figured if it doesn't work I'd send it back.
I received the card, when I put it in my system it sparked and then actually set on fire briefly. I'm not sure what the issue was but it wasn't my other hardware as my 2 other cards are fine. Maybe a faulty VRM? I contacted MSI who have given me authorisation for an RMA.
Now, my choices are to either return the card and get my money back, or proceed to RMA it and have it repaired/replaced and end up having a card worth £700 that cost me £320
It looks like the previous owner somehow managed to bend the IO plate slightly so I'm worried MSI might reject it. If they do reject it I could still sell the card as faulty for £200 or so.
What would you do in my position?
