Hi,
I'm looking for advice on a partial new build. It'll mainly be used for heavy image processing / number crunching and I also need a biggish chunk of reasonably robust storage. I may do some gaming for fun, CS:GO etc but don't expect top end graphics.
At the moment I have an ageing Intel Q6600, 4GB with ~ 2TB of raid 10 storage and a 128GB SSD, so I'm thinking that anything will be an improvement.
I have a lovely Silverstone (ATX) case and a decent 1000w corsair PSU that I plan to re-use. I'd like to re-use the SSD (Samsung 830 series) as it's quite new and fine for OS drive, unless someone tells me it'll be a big bottleneck.
Budget is around £600, maybe stretching to £700.
I think I need 4 x 3TB drives in raid 10, at around 5.4TB this will give me a couple of years growing space. Everything else I'll leave open as I've totally lost touch with what's what.
Thanks for reading, let me know if I've missed anything obvious.
Ian
