Hi,

Please could someone give me some advice.

I mainly use my PC for basic office type stuff, but I do play iRacing (currently on my gaming laptop).

Rather than having to switch between the laptop and PC, i would like to be able to play iRacing on my PC.

Other than Graphics it's quite powerful. I don't need to play iRacing on Max settings, just mid settings will be fine with no lag from Graphics.

Is there a card out there for the above mentioned amount that will do the job?

Thanks

Thanks,

My power supply is 550W Corsair, 8GB RAM, 3.2GHZ Quad Core processor (cant remember exact model)

When I said powerful, it's not a beast by any means, but more than man enough for iRacing other than the graphics!

does it have 2 x 6 pins or 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin? I don't normally recommend using power adapters, so if it's only 2 x 6 pin look for a card that takes 2 x 6 pins looking on fleebay you can grab a FTW 670 for £75

I would expect a full 7970 for £75 [although 7950s get pretty close performance wise when overclocked]

Better still the 10% faster (at stock) 7970ghz model (renamed to 280x later)

Edit: just seen the 2x6pin requirement. Many 7970s came with molex to 8 pin adaptors. But you would need to post your Power supply's 12 rail (the info on the sticker) capabilities first before I could recommend that.

IMO get a 2nd hand 285 would be a better bet forward. When you can eventually get a Freesync monitor, it would make a world of difference in terms of smoothness.

I upgraded to a Freesync monitor about 1 month or so ago, and the difference that is made in game makes me want to question what the hell is wrong with PC gaming and monitor for all these years :D

HD7950/7970 (also known as 280/280x) whiles are great cards, they don't support Freesync.

I've recently sold 2x280x on ebay and both went for £100 so it could be a struggle to get one at that budget, with a little patience £75 is possible. It's a great card and I was still having a good experience with them @1080p

I have one on the way but no card to run it yet :(
