Now I'm usually a very safe person and haven't had any sort of dangerous or major virus in years, but the last couple of days have been a complete nightmare!

First of all, I experienced issues with some malware (Win32:Malware-gen) that had lodged itself in my windows/temp folder and was basically duplicating every few minutes once avast had detected it and quarantined/deleted it. I eventually managed to get rid of this by running a boot scan with avast.

However once this had been dealt with I am now facing problems with something else which I can't put my finger on. I know it's some sort of virus as the computer is running very slow and even freezes when i right click on the desktop! Also, when I start up in safe mode the computer seems to be fine and is nice and responsive.

I also forgot to mention that whatever virus my PC is infected with has also managed to disable the windows security centre and it wont let me re-enable this at all.

I have tried various things such as running in safe mode and then doing scans and have also tried various different programs to try and detect whatever is causing this.

I'm a relative novice in dealing with viruses/malware so if anyone could give me any advice on what else I could try to get my PC back up and running it would be greatly appreciated!

Download MalwareBytes on another computer, and run it in safe mode, it will scan and remove all/any malware. Also, theirs a chance it could have done something to your registry, so try a program like CCcleaner after you've got rid off the malware for sure.
