So I built the rig in my sig 2 weeks ago and only recently started playing games and as expected leaving everything in the bios on auto is not a good thing. I'm not overclocking yet, and already have had to put my cpu up to 1.25v (showing as 1.24v in cpu-z) as the auto setting which was around 1.22v was causing crysis to hang. With that I have noticed that my qpi/dram voltage (uncore) which is also at auto is now reading 1.363v in bios (1.375 in asus turbov software). Is this very high for uncore voltage set on auto ?

Is it safe to lower it as I have read uncore usually only needs to be at 1.2v or close to cpu voltage. I suspect the voltage is this high as I am succesfully running 12gig ddr3 at 1600mhz cas 6-7-6-18 (1.65681v) and more strain is being put on the system compared to 6gig at more relaxed timings. However Asus have said as long as the uncore voltage is within 0.5v of my ddr3 voltage (which it is) I should be ok. I have disabled speedstep,c1e, turbo mode. My uncore clock is set to 3200mhz, and my qpi link is at 6400. All other settings are on auto, cpu pll voltage auto = 1.812, ioh voltage auto = 1.131, ioh pcie voltage auto = 1.508, ich voltage auto = 1.111, ich pcie voltage auto = 1.508.

My temps seem ok. Realtemps shows my cores idling in low to mid 30's. And I yet to see them go over 50 when gaming. My gpu's idle at 42 and 32 (top one if higher as the fan is blocked by the bottom gpu). I have seen them hit 80 under load.

would you like a walkthrough?

i can probably give you enough pointers to get to 4ghz with your memory

Well I dropped the uncore voltage to be the same as the cpu voltage (1.25). And 12gig ram is happily running at CAS 6-7-6-18 at 1600mhz 1.65v. Everything else on auto. Turned turbo back on and cpu hits as high as 3.54ghz when it needs to. Must start looking at upping the base clock now to get the chip to 4ghz.
