Advice needed - Razer buttons not recognized

I have a razer deathadder and I have always had problems with games not recognising the middle and side buttons. The razer configuration software does not work most of the time. I have had this problem on 2 separate PC's XP 32 bit and Vista 64. I never had this issue with my old MX518 and Vista.

I am ditching Razer as the software sucks so I would like to know how the logitechs fare with Vista 64 as I considering getting another MX518 or a G9. I tried the G5 and hated the tracking on it. There are are whole bunch of other brands of gaming mice on the market that I know nothing about. I am looking for reliability and software that is 100% compatible with Vista 64.

The MX518 is a solid mouse, I use this mouse at home for gaming and general usage.

It's fairly cheap too.

Logitech software is optional - all the buttons work without software installation, including the on-the-fly DPI buttons. I have used this with XP 32bit, Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit all flawlessly

I am just heading out to go and buy one. My old one was rock solid but had to be replaced to wear and tear. I have come to conclusion that paying more for a mouse does not mean that it will be better.
