hi
Ive been looking at getting a decent amp and speakers for my computer for a while but didn't have enough for both so was saving up until i did but recently i was offered a Cambridge a500 integrated amplifier as a trade for a faulty athlon 1400 pc that i had. Ive took the amp and now have a few questions as i don't know much regarding these

1-im going to be wanting some bookshelf speakers. have around £50ish which ive been told should buy me some decent secondhand speakers.is there anything that i need to look out for and also can anyone recommend any models? the main types of music i listen to are hip hop and bassline

2-ive heard about bi wiring but not too sure on what it is exactly. from what i hear it makes the sound better

3- the speakers are gonna be placed next to my monitor. does this mean that they have to be shielded>

4- can anyone recommend any websies or forums that i should check out for more information

1, loads of great budget designs about. I have some kef Cresta 1's that are OK however the budget speaker of recent I was really impressed with were the Warfdale Diamond range.
2, Not really worth bi-wiring a budget amp and speakers, in fact many budget ones would not have the two sets of binding posts on the speakers that are needed. All it does is bypass the crossover in the speakers. I can make a differencet with some speakers, but I wouldn't bother on a budget setup.
3, Probably won't matter about shielding as a TFT won't be affected. A CRT will need shielded speakers though.
4, Not sure of many decent hi-fi review sites, What Hi - Fi magazine are good for budget systems, its also worth checking you local hi-fi dealers as most are very good when it comes to advice and many sell second hand and ex demo kit cheap. Richer Sounds are probably the best place to go with your budget.
