Hi all

Currently have the pc in my sig. I have £500ish to spend on an upgrade. I know the obvious upgrade is a gpu but dont have the money for anything that could be better than the 1080ti so am looking at doing something to my ryzen set up or may be going for the new alderlake set up.

Can anyone suggest a way to go or should I wait to see what happens out after xmas.

tia

You system is good just keep saving for that gpu upgrade nothing less than a 3070 makes sense, check benchmarks to concur

1080ti is worth good money .

I can get an alderlake set up for £550 for cpu/mb/waterblock, cpu being 12600k. I also could do an upgrade to a 5900x as they are decent price at the min but just can not see a reason to do it. I have no need to upgrade but just getting the itch to try something new to play with. I have had this rig for a year now which is a record for me lol....usually change something by now but the price of gpus is stopping me going the obvious way if you know what I mean

anyone know if the ryzen chips on the horizon will fit on am4 boards, cany seem to find much info

thanks for replies guys

your cpu is golden, just get cl14 3600mhz I've got a 5800x with 3733 cl14 scary close to the newer intel chips. Secondly when you buy a gpu don't buy anything that's 8GB including the 3070, it's DOA essentially, Nvidia are releasing the 2060 with 12gb by their own admission 8gb is not enough to warranty an upgrade. Consider 12GB+ cards, having said that the 6900xt can be had for not much over a grand.

Btw AMD are due to release 3d Cache AM4 - Which will likely Beat Alderlake, i would hold on to my cash right now.

Save your money. No 'upgrade' outside of a new GPU is going to feel any different to what you're using now except being £500 lighter
