Hi, I am a complete novice  and wanted to upgrade my pc, it is about 2 years old and I bought it pre built, it has an Athlon ii x 4 630 processor 2.80 ghz, Biostar GF8200 E Motherboard with 2gb ram, Seagate barracuda 500gb hd, ATX 450W PSU.

New parts I have bought so far are a K380 Coolermaster case and a Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard, now what I want to ask is is it easy enough to put the athlon processor in to the new motherboard and the rest of my old parts in to the new case, i know I will have to buy ddr3 ram for the new motherboard, what else would I need? Would I need a graphics card?
I mainly use the PC for internet, word, watching films and photoshop, I did want to use some video editing software in the future, I am not really a gamer but would like to play fifa, Hope someone can help, Thanks in advance :)

Yeah get at least 8GB of DDR3 RAM and what brand PSU is that? I would recommend a PSU from a well established name such as XFX, Seasonic, Corsair etc.

Also if you didn't feel the need for a graphics card before then there is no need for one now either but you might benefit from a cheap one for your photoshop tasks :)

Thanks, The make and model of the PSU is Winpower 450w, I currently have one stick of 2.00gb ddr2 memory but I havn't bought any memory yet for the new motherboard, what would you recommend?

See my link above with regards memory.

I would also invest in a decent PSU.

Added to gpu's not sure on your budget:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x Gigabyte HD 7770 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £91.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK) £36.98
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £35.99
Total : £326.95 (includes shipping : £10.00).

The new case also comes with a USB 3 port at the front of the case, would this be easy to connect with this motherboard? also what brand of ddr3 Ram should I buy? and should I stick with 450w on a new better brand PSU, Many Thanks in advance

Thank You RJC and dacads, youve both been a great help, i'm a bit slow, youve already given me replies whilst im still typing :)

Hmm I hope it's Firefox you were using previously and not IE :p

Even so I've had to resort to Chrome as well on numerous occasions. Who knows a switch over might be in the books :p

Hi Guys :)
Is the OCZ Technology 500W CoreXStream PSU ok for my build? as it fits in to my budget, also is Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit a good fit for my build?
Thanks in advance

The OCZ is a reasonable PSU, but if can have a look at the Corsair or the XFX range of PSU.

The memory is ok, but they do a larger heatsink on which could interfere with larger cpu coolers.
