Whats the best cooling soultion for a P4 3.2 Presscot chip?

I am just using the standard heat sink and fan atm

I have noticed that when playing games my fans get quite loud at first i thought this was due to my graphics card buy after playing a game and quickly checking my temp on the card it was suprised to see that my graphics card temp was a low 42c

So i am asuming that the loud fan must be my CPUs fan?

depends what you mean by 'best' if you mean quitest then i would go for a thermalright si-120, scythe ninja or thermaltake big typhoon check these cooler on the ocuk website

1 more question what temp should my CPU run at idle and under normal conditions?

I recommend the Big Typhoon definitly. Had one of these myself before I swapped to water.

As for supposed temps, too many factors here to give you an accurate idea.

Idle: Anywhere between 35C - 50C, dependant on how well your case is cooled

Load: Anywhere 50+ for a prescott. My smithfield 805 (2x Prescott's, basically) has hit 74C but with a massive overclock and extra voltage supplied.


If you could give us more system specs, 'twould be helpful.
