Hello gents,

Im currently in the process of buliding myself a new PC and would like advice off you fellow chaps on what Memory to buy. The parts I currently have are:

Motherboard: Asus P5WDH Deluxe Skt 775 i975X DDR2, PCIe16, dual GbLAN 1394 8ch.audio SATA/RAID0/1/5 WiFi Supports Intel 65NM cpu) ATX Motherboard

CPU: Intel CPU Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 95W Energy Efficient 2.4GHz SLACR G0 Stepping

The Memory I have been looking towards is,

Geil Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400 Dual Channel memory kit (2 x 1GB) 800+MHz Ultra Low Latency CAS 3-3-3-8 +Aluminium heat spreader

or

OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1024) Flex XLC Edition DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Dual Channel EPP 3-4-4-15 Reaper HPC Heatsink

I dunno......what do you think I should get?!?

If I were buying I wouldn't get either of those. I'd get a decent 4 GiB kit of PC2-6400C4 or C5. C2Qs aren't all that sensitive to latency so in my mind it's quantity over quality.

I'd only bother with 2gb sticks if i were vista 64 bit. These 4gb kits are vastly overpriced better off getting 2x 2gb kits at the moment. If you intend on being vista 64 bit then yes maybe you could buy a 2gb stick now and then another later then another etc.Low latency is not an issue with intel i see no difference at all being say 500fsb 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15.
